Vancouver based singer/songwriter Mathew V blends modern, progressive pop with hints of old-school Motown, and international flare. Canadian born, at the age of 7 Mathew began vocal training; studying in the fields of opera and classical music. It didn’t take long for Mathew to establish himself in Classical music, but he wanted more. Shortly after, he began testing the waters of pop music, picking up songwriting at the age of 14. After 4 years of growth and development, Mathew relocated to London, England to begin recording his debut EP. Mathew’s vocal control and soulful tone has been compared to the likes of Sam Smith, John Legend and Paloma Faith, but Mathew is certain that his music is “unlike any other artist on the market right now.” Working with the powerhouse producers Simon Pollitt (Laura White), Jay Abdul (Ed Sheeran) and Mastering Engineer Miles Showell (Jessie J, Disclosure, Lana Del Rey) Mathew has surrounded himself for success. His debut single is set to release in the spring of 2015, and although further details are being kept quiet, Mathew assures us that it will be “well worth the wait.”
"As I'm writing a song, I immediately think of the video. I'm a very visual artist and nowadays, a good music video can influence a hit song. The visual aesthetic of an artist goes hand in hand with the music itself, and the creative process of creating a music video is absolutely fulfilling."
